Aldershot (MOD) 50m pool Training Sessions.
There are further training sessions up and coming. Dates are shown on the
'events' page.
Extra Training sessions
Stanley Pool (Louisa Centre)
Our swimmers seem to enjoy this venue because of the facilities and
atmosphere at the centre. The staff are very helpful and professional in their
attitude towards us.
We intend to return there in March, to refine skills which we can't practice at
Chester-le-Street, see our 'Training' page.
Immersion equipment
We now have a second CressiSub
DIN-regulator for connection to a
pony bottle so can now do Immersion
training with two Finswimmers rather
than just one.
The pony bottles were obtained from
a Manchester Dive shop and are
1litre capacity which is enough for a
100m swim under virtually all
conditions and a 200m swim
(or 2 x 100m) where breath is taken
2-3 times per 25m length.
We purchased three new classic
snorkels in January,
as we have a number of potential
new members.
In January we had four first-time Finners at one of our sessions, two
relatives of current members and two Pool Lifeguards from Chester le
Street.
Equipment Ownership marking
Our Fins and Scuba bottles now sport our club logo as a security measure.
Event abroad
John Lavender went to Tasmania and spent a very happy week training with
Tasmania's Tridentz FSC at the Hobart Aquatic Centre where Simon Kidd
won Medals for GBR three years ago. He benefited from the training to such
an extent that he swam a PB in a Time Trial held at the centre, he did a 50m
SF in 0:35.75".
Another PB!
Josh Morton swam a PB on Feb 27th, in a TT, he did 0:35.56" (faster than
John Lavender's) for a 50m SF with one of the club's Hyperbaloid Fins.
